 Product Description

We are happy to release our newest addition to our FPSpec Twin Turbo lineup! These new Stage 2 turbos are a step further than our OEM+ Stainless Steel replacements, and are a great option for those wanting to keep the twin turbo spirit of the FD, but dialed up to 11!

Why stay twins?

Anyone who has ever driven an FD with working sequential turbos will tell you that it's an incredibly unique and rewarding experience. From the ground up, The FD was designed around the idea of a linear powerband that is consistent up until the sky-high redline. The twin turbo system, although complicated, plays a MASSIVE part in forming that identity. The power is predictable, linear, and effortless.

There are a few issues with them though! Given that even the newest FDs are over 20 years old, the OEM turbos are just about all either showing their age, broken or on their way out. Mazda's factory units are now all NLA, leading to people having to re-use/re-man original components, or so what most people have done, and immediately abandon the twins and go straight to a big single turbo. This is, inevitably, going to change the driving experience drastically by introducing heaps of turbo lag. Keeping the twin system keeps that aspect of the car’s identity and driving experience as intended. With twin turbos, the power comes on more predictably, more linearly, and there’s not a bunch of lag throughout a large portion of the powerband. Our stage 2 turbos keep those same characteristics, while also offering a much higher ceiling than the stock units.

Highlights:

  • These turbos are tested up to 27psi, and we have reason to believe that they will safely produce up to around 30 psi (compared the to OEM turbos, which have a generally-agreed-upon max output of around 15psi).
  • 19T compressor wheel: 46mm inducer, 58mm exducer with extended tips
  • G series drop in turbine wheel helps prevent excessive backpressure
  • 360° dual-feed dynamic thrust assembly
  • Dynamic seal, instead of OEM carbon seal. Dynamic seal causes less drag than OEM
  • Upgraded actuators to handle more PSI than stock
  • Our turbos use a dynamic seal, instead of OEM carbon seal. Using a dynamic seal causes less drag than OEM
  • Better flow, leading to more power throughout the entire rev range
  • New Stainless steel hot sides
  • Vapor honed and refurbished comp cover and actuator
  • New hardware, gaskets, ARP Bolts, assembled and Clocked
